Boilerplate
World Suffering Index (WSI) summarizes country‑level suffering using USU (experienced burden) and LPY (lost flourishing). USU is a calibrated, additive unit anchored to familiar pains (0.001 needle → 1.0 kidney‑stone episode); LPY adds a time‑lost perspective. WSI publishes medians with uncertainty intervals and avoids double counting overlapping harms. Methods and open files at sufferingunits.org.
