WSI Trichiasis Model v0.1 | 17 October 2026

Run: python3 reproduce.py
Optional: python3 reproduce.py --budget 1000
No dependencies or network access are required.

The JSON separates reported evidence from WSI judgments and records source URLs.
All costs use 2025 USD. The $315 central cost is the midpoint of the ICTC
$270-$360 planning range, provisionally applied to one completed patient surgical
course. The source covers TT management, including epilation, so it is not an
audited surgery-only cost. Required care for both eyes is assumed covered within
the course; do not count eyes as distinct people.

Later relief = (budget / course cost) * 275 * 24 * average intensity decrease / 47.25
Treatment pain = (budget / course cost) * recovery days * 24 * recovery intensity / 47.25
Selected pain balance = later relief - treatment pain

Intensity and duration are WSI assumptions. Average relief includes all treated
patients, sleep, incomplete response and recurrence; no extra success-rate
multiplier applies. The comparison is conditional on additional completed surgery
relative to care otherwise received. The clinical study does not measure this
counterfactual or validate the intensity mapping. Costs and outcomes come from
different settings. Zero or negative effects are possible.

No donation-allocation or marginal-funding estimate is established. The result is
not a complete net-benefit score or comparable charity ranking. Model scenarios
are not confidence bounds. See the website report for scope and interpretation.
